INGREDIENTS:
- 3 pounds pork shoulder or Boston butt roast
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger buns or slider rolls, for serving
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Prep the Pork
- Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper on all sides.
- Place the sliced onions and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker or large pot.
- Place the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic.
Step 2: Prepare the BBQ Sauce
- In a mixing bowl, combine BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and ground cumin.
- Stir well to combine all the ingredients and form a thick sauce.
Step 3: Slow Cook the Pork
- Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the pork shoulder in the slow cooker or large pot.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours or on high heat for 4 hours, until the pork is tender and can be easily pulled apart with forks or tongs.
Step 4: Shred the Pork
- Remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker or large pot and place it on a cutting board.
- Using forks or tongs, pull the pork apart into smaller shreds.
Step 5: Coat the Pork with BBQ Sauce
- Return the shredded pork back to the slow cooker or large pot.
- Pour additional BBQ sauce over the shredded pork and mix well, coating all the pork with the sauce.
- Cook on low heat for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to penetrate the pork.
Step 6: Serve the BBQ Pulled Pork
- Using a serving spoon or tongs, transfer the BBQ Pulled Pork to hamburger buns or slider rolls.
